It's going to be quiet for the next couple weeks. I wasn't expecting to have a video this week but Fredrik brought something interesting. Sid Meier (if you don't know who Sid is, uhh, you will soon) gave the keynote at GDC this year. He shared some of his thoughts on gamers and their psychology. Even if you aren't a game designer there is something in here for you if you write code.
It's an insightful talk. There are a couple things that I don't know I agree with but Sid has obviously done his homework. I think that's the most important thing Sid said. Test your product with your users. Figure out what works for them by watching them use the product. Your assumptions and even their assumptions are not likely to actually be what they want.
